Flowers can get super expensive depending on the size of the bouquet and the kind of flowers you select. With all the parties and showers we've been planning lately I decided to try making my own centerpieces. To my surprise it was pretty easy and the boutiques turned out really great. Here's my take on how to do your own flower centerpieces.
1. I picked my flowers out at King Soopers, but another great place is Trader Joes. Both places are really reasonable and have lots to choose from. I selected a few different kinds of greenery as well as blush and creme roses. I ended up getting a total of 5 boutiques of flowers and greenery which was enough for one larger centerpiece and one smaller centerpiece.
Tip: Make sure to get plenty of fillers like greenery and also make sure you don't have two many different color schemes going on.
2. The next thing you need to do is cut down all of the flowers and greenery so that they aren't too tall for your vase.
3. Then pull off the leaves at the bottom of each stem so that the portion of the stem that will be in the water is bare.
4. Grab Scotch tape and cut each strip down the middle. You want the pieces of tape to be long enough to fit horizontally and vertically across the vase opening.
5. When arranging the flowers in the grid you want the tallest flower to be in the center square.
